Recently Envision Montgomery 2040, released the Community Factbook—an overview of existing conditions and trends for the Montgomery community. This document is the first of a two-part approach to technical analysis for the Comprehensive Plan. The summary draws upon available data sources such as the US Census, 2016 American Community Survey and other recent city studies to capture a “snapshot” of community conditions and trends.

The report is intended to initiate conversations about the future and help to identify topics where the detailed analysis should be undertaken as part of the strategic analysis phase of the Comprehensive Plan process. The FactBook is organized into three sections: People (population and household characteristics and demographic trends), Prosperity (economy and employment, income, poverty, housing cost, and education), and Place (development, land use and character, housing, transportation, and parks and open space).
Some key findings from the report include data on the City’s limited growth in population between 2000 and 2016; the increase of 3,000 jobs from 2010; and a +182% change in the City’s Hispanic /Latinx population. To find out more click the link and read the report.
