The Envision Montgomery 2040 Steering Committee held its fifth meeting on September 27 in the Whitley Hall’s Gold Room on the Campus of Troy University at Montgomery. The meeting began with a welcome from Vice Chancellor Ray White and focused on preparation for the upcoming Community Summit. The Team discussed the publicity tools and approach for outreach and affirmed their goal of making participation a choice for anyone who cares about the future of Montgomery.
The Community Summit is scheduled for October 25 from 6 to 8 pm in the Acadome on the campus of Alabama State University. Committee members will serve as volunteers during the meeting and ensure everyone has an opportunity to contribute. The meeting will include an inspiring welcome from community leaders, a brief background from the Planning Team, an interactive presentation on community conditions and trends, and a conversation with attendees.
The Committee is hoping to attract hundreds to the event and will ensure everyone has an opportunity to be heard. Through small table discussions, participants will be asked to contribute their hopes, concerns, and ideas to begin to form a common vision to lead Montgomery forward. The meeting will last two hours and is open to anyone.
Registration is not required but encouraged. This is available on the process website, www.enviosionmontgomery2040.org/communitysummit.
